It Gets Better Than You Know « Thread Started on Aug 7, 2007, 11:19am »
Ally walked into the church silently and timidly. She'd never been to church before but she figured her cousins needed the prayers. She sat down in the third to last row. She looked down at her lap then up at the beautiful stained glass windows that went all the way to the ceiling, which were very high ceilings. She was wearing a white button down shirt with a nicer pair of jeans and a pair of beat up low top converse. She listened to what the Father had to say and just thought the whole time she was there, thinking about Eva, Andrew, Katie, Chris, Pete, Blane, Andy. She just thought about them all, just praying a prayer for each that they'd be ok and make it. A few tears fell down her cheeks when she came to Andy, Eva, and Chris. Especially Chris, she felt bad for him, having to put up with her cousin and love her all at the same time. She prayed hard for Chris, she pulled hard on the bottom of her shirt, she left her eyes open and just stared at the stained glass mura of Jesus with the little children. She wasn't normall religious at all, but trying times call for desperate measures. When she had finished praying she wiped away the tears from her face and scanned the room with her eyes, wandering if other people had the same problems. She was hurting because of the things she knew, she was so upset that other people had to hurt so much and she was hurting so little. Ally was like that, she felt for people. All people, she would switch places with someone taking a beating because they're gay in a heartbeat, or a child being told their worthless. She'd rather be there and have to take that than whoever was. She hated seeing people being put through so much pain. She couldn't stand it, she just wanted to bitch slap the people who hurt those who were just trying to figure this life out and make it out alive.

Mike sat in the church, listening to the father. Every Sunday was always the same, and he just couldn't get out of it. It's not like he believed any of this. The only reason he was here was for Mel. She was sitting next to him, her eyes unblinking, taking in every word this guy said. Mike she just didn't know how she believed this crock. He knew what the bible said, it was just crazy. It would never happen.
His eyes wandered, looking at the different people. His gaze fell on a girl who seemed to be praying. I've never seen her before. He looked at her a few more seconds, that is until she looked over at him. He quickly looked back to the father and pretended like nothing had happened.
Mel slapped his shoulder lightly, rolling her eyes, "If you paid attention, then maybe you would learn something." She looked back, ignoring the face her brother made at her.

Ally caught a glimpse of a guy looking at her but shook it off. When the service was dismissed she sat in the peugh for a moment, waiting for the majority of the people to leave, she tucked her hair behind her ears and straightened out her shirt, wiping the black eyeliner and mascara from her face but it still stayed there. She stood up and walked slowly towards the giant doors, staring at the concrete wall, she pushed the thoughts of everyone she cared about out of her head. She glanced over her shoulder when she heard what sounded like siblings argueing. She caught the guy looking at her again, it was normal and it didn't bug her. She sighed, blushing a bit when he smiled at her, she looked down at the pattern on the floor when his sister began to turn around, obviously wondering what he was looking at.

"Mel, you know just as well as I do, pushing christian values on people doesn't work, so save it." He wasn't usually that harsh, he just hated her trying to convert him. It was a lost cause, he like where he was. Seeing his out, he walked past Mel, "I'll see you at home." He made his way over to the girl he noticed earlier. "I saw you in there, My name is Mike."
Mel huffed and turned as he walked away, "Mike, this is stupid. Why can't you just-" but she broke off, he was already done listening. She walked over past them, looking at Mike, "I'm not making you lunch." She walked out as Mike waved her on, "Men," she muttered.

Ally smiled at him, but bit on her lip gently when his sister walked past. "I'm Ally." She said quietly with a pleasant smile, holding her hand out to him gingerly. She had a beautiful smile, her teeth were very straight and white. "I don't really like church much either, but my family could use it about now." She told him quietly when Mel had gone.

Mike shook her hand and smiled, "Well, between you and me, I think it's all mumbo-jumbo." He pulled his hand back slowly, tilting his head, "Not saying it doesn't work for some people. Just not me." He noticed her smiled, and shook his head, "Beautiful smile," he said simply.

Ally nodded and listened to him, then blushed when he said she had a beautiful smile. "Thanks. So was that your sister?" She asked, wondering how many siblings he had. For Ally it was just her and Andy, their mom had left a lot of money to Andy since he's oldest, their mom left it to Andy instead of their dad cause he was a drunk and she thought he'd be more responsible with it than their dad. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and stared into his beautiful eyes.

Mike smiled at her, looking at where Mel had walked out. "Yeah, that's my sister Mel." He looked around, noticing the Entrance hall had already cleared, "You want to go? I think they are about to close."

"Yeah sure." Ally nodded as they walked out of the church together and into the blistering sun. "Eww, it's too hot." She looked over at Mike and got an idea. "Wanna go get some ice cream?" She asked him, squinting just so she'd be able to see him. She hated the sun, it was too hot. She reached down, realizing they had left the church, she unbuttoned a few of the buttons on her shirt so it dropped a bit lower, showing a bit of a cleavage line.

Mike looked down at her and raised his eyebrows, not saying anything. "Yeah, it sounds like a good idea." His eyes wandered a moment, but then snapped back to in front of him. I know better. Sighing, he took off toward the ice-cream parlor, "So what's your favorite Ice-cream flavor?"

"Yay, my treat." Ally said smiling as they walked into the ice cream parlor. She walked up to the counter, "Ummm, Mint Chocolate Chip with Raspberry in a cone please." She ordered then looked at Mike, wondering what kind of ice cream he liked. She dug out some money from her wallet, she had about fifteen dollars on her. Ally never really did carry alot of money with her, ever.
